Household account

One card, one ledger, one balance.

A shared card and shared ledger for flatshares of two to six. Every rent payment and card purchase is split the moment it happens.

Nothing to reconcile at month end, because nothing was left unattributed.

Most flats split bills in one app and spend on someone's personal card, then rebuild the month by hand. SplitLedger holds the card and the ledger together, so each transaction already knows whose balance it hit.

Why SplitLedger

Splits set once

Rent and recurring bills entered once, split by your chosen weights, applied every month without renegotiation.

Running balances

Each flatmate sees who owes whom right now, no spreadsheet and no chat scroll.

Card spend tagged

Shared card purchases land on the household ledger and split on the same rules as the bills.

One-tap settle

Balances clear in a single tap instead of four month-end bank transfers.

Three flatmates seen from behind at a kitchen counter, one holding a phone showing a plain app screen.
Our story

Why the card and the ledger belong together

Bill-splitting apps stop at the arithmetic; card products stop at the payment. Between them sits the month-end reconstruction: whose card was used, which charge was shared, who already paid. SplitLedger closes that gap by holding both, so attribution happens at the transaction, not after it. That is the whole edge, and it is why settling up takes a tap rather than an evening.

What ships in version one

The first release is the ledger, the splits and the shared card. Nothing else is promised.

Who it is for

01

City flats of three or four

Renters aged 24 to 30 already running the flat through a group chat.

02

Month-end transfer fatigue

Households that settle by bank transfer and rebuild the maths each month.

03

Shared spending, shared card

Flats that want one card for groceries and household costs, not someone's personal one.

How it works

  1. Open a household

Invite two to five flatmates and set the split weights once.

  2. Add rent and bills

Enter each recurring cost; the ledger applies the split every month.

  3. Spend and settle

Use the shared card, watch balances update, settle up in one tap.

Questions

Waitlist members hear about every change first.

Is the card a credit card?

Version one ships the shared card and the ledger as one system. Card issuing terms are confirmed with the issuing partner before launch; check the waitlist email for the final card terms before you rely on it.

What does the free tier include?

The household ledger, weighted splits, running balances and one-tap settle-up for up to three members. The paid household tier at $4 per month adds unlimited members, receipt capture and export.

How are splits decided?

You set the weights per bill when you enter it: equal, by room, by income share or any custom percentage. The ledger reapplies them each month until you change them.

What happens when someone moves out?

The household stays; you remove the member and settle their balance in one tap. Recurring splits are re-weighted from the next cycle. Exact mid-cycle handling is being finalised before launch.

Where does revenue come from?

Interchange on shared card spending plus the $4 monthly household tier. There is no charge per member and no charge on settle-up transfers.

When does it launch?

The waitlist is open now and the first drop goes to waitlist members first. We are not publishing a launch date until card issuing is confirmed; join the list and we will write once with the date.
